The Aviation Corrosion Challenge is an official mobile application developed by the US Navy PMW 240 Program, aimed at educating users about aircraft corrosion.

This application employs a gaming format that incorporates score-based challenges, enabling Sailors and other users to recognize the various types, forms, and characteristics of aircraft corrosion. In accordance with NAVAIR Instruction 01-1A-509 1-4, it provides visual aids for identifying corrosion along with essential information on methods for its removal and treatment, as well as materials used in corrosion prevention.

Through the use of photographs and textual information, the game presents randomly generated elements related to corrosion control. These include types of corrosion, their impacts on alloys, aircraft cleaning practices, preventive compounds, and sealants. Players are tasked with answering multiple-choice questions within a predetermined time frame. Correct responses not only contribute to the overall score but also grant bonus points if selected before the timer expires.

To foster a deeper understanding, the application offers a review feature after each challenge, allowing users to revisit questions and answers. Additionally, an achievements section unlocks trophies upon reaching specific point thresholds or completing designated challenges, promoting engagement and continued learning.
